Alyssa Canning,
RMT, Breast Care Practitioner, Clinic Owner
I began my career in 2014, after graduating from WCCMT in New Westminster. Over the years I have been inspired by massage not only in the healing of injury and relief of pain but in the passive facilitation of transformation and empowerment over one's own self.
My practice began with deep tissue and fascial release, eventually incorporating yoga, breathing exercises meditation, and grounding techniques. My training with Mastectomy Guide prompted me to dive deeper into my anatomy knowledge and incorporate more gentle modalities, with a focus on the calming of the nervous system to create the right atmosphere for appropriate intervention.
These more subtle techniques include Lymph Drainage (the gentle “helping” of lymph vessels to allow proper flow of lymph in congested tissues) and Cranial-Fascial Therapy (a gentle, subtle manipulation of cranial bones, connective tissue, and housing of our spinal canal to restore balance to the structures surrounding our nervous system).
I find my balance with creating, travel, music, yoga, roller-skating, and motorcycling, and can often be found walking and exploring the local trails and forests.
Alyssa is currently part of the Mastectomy Guide's 6 month Mentorship and Training program and is offering therapeutic breast/chest massage with focus on mastectomy and reconstruction, elective breast surgeries and gender-affirming top surgeries free of charge.
